NFF Hampshire Honor Society Turns 20

The National Football Foundation is celebrating the 20th year of the NFF Hampshire Honor Society, the nation’s most comprehensive academic initiative for college football players! A total of 23,568 players from 691 different colleges and universities have been recognized since 2007, with six divisions of football represented.
NFF Hampshire Honor Society members must be nominated by their respective schools; be a senior in his final year of eligibility or a graduated player who has already earned a bachelor's degree; earn a minimum 3.2 GPA; and have been a starter or contributor to the football team.
This year’s class is set to be announced tomorrow at 11 a.m. ET!
A Big Night in Big D for Scholar-Athletes

The NFF Gridiron Club of Dallas hosted its 17th annual awards banquet March 28, presenting several major awards and recognizing four college and 21 high school scholar-athletes from the North Texas region. Kansas QB Daniels honored in Chicago
Congratulations to 2025 NFF Campbell Trophy finalist Jalon Daniels on being named the 2026 Pop Warner College Football Player of the Year at the 2026 Pop Warner All-American Scholar Banquet March 21 in Chicago.

In the most recent episode of the NFF Podcast, host LaVar Arrington sits down with Sterling Doty, head coach at Stephenville High School in Texas. Stephenville was announced as the winner of this year’s Hatchell Cup by the National Football Foundation. LaVar and Coach Doty discuss getting into the game, what football has done for him in his life and what he wants his legacy to be.

Dick Farley, the head coach at Williams College (MA) from 1987-2003 and a 2006 NFF College Football Hall of Fame inductee, passed away April 1. He was 79.
Farley played defensive back for the San Diego Chargers in the NFL and for Boston University and was a college teammate of NFF College Football Hall of Famer Bruce Taylor. After two seasons in the NFL, he was hired in 1971 as an assistant football and track coach at Williams. He remained as an assistant coach for 15 seasons before succeeding Bob Odell (a NFF College Football Hall of Fame player from Penn) in 1987.

Jerry Anderson, who played collegiately at Idaho State, has passed away. He was 88.
Bob Atha, a kicker, punter and quarterback at Ohio State, has passed away. He was 65.
Wayne Brantley, who played collegiately at Georgia, has passed away. He was 81.
Tony Davis, who played collegiately at Nebraska, has passed away. He was 73.
Terry Grooms, who played collegiately at Cincinnati, has passed away. He was 51.
Huzell Hicks, who played collegiately at Alabama, has passed away. He was 73.
Jeremy Ioane, who played collegiately at Boise State, has passed away.
Willie Irvin, who played collegiately at Florida A&M and was a pioneer in the NFL, has passed away. He was 96.
Larry Kohn, who played collegiately at Georgia, has passed away. He was 81.
Milton Levy, who played collegiately at Bowling Green, has passed away. He was 87.
G.A. Moore, a legendary Texas high school football coach who claimed eight state championships, has passed away. He was 86.
Chester Napierkowski, who played collegiately at Buffalo, has passed away. He was 78.
Jack Pugh, who played collegiately at Wisconsin, has passed away. He was 24.
Jeff Pyburn, who played both football and baseball at Georgia, has passed away.
Donald Ross, who played collegiately at Cincinnati, has passed away. He was 85.
Brad Rothermel, the former athletics administrator at UNLV, has passed away. He was 88.
Jim Scharrer, who played collegiately at Duke and was a second round pick of the Atlanta Braves in the MLB Draft, has passed away. He was 49.
Gerard Williams, who played collegiately at Langston (OK) and spent five seasons in the NFL, has passed away. He was 73.
