National Football Foundation presents Good in the Game - 9/17

Good morning, football fans! There’s been a shake-up at the top of this week’s FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll!

Another honor for a quintet of National Football Foundation College Football Hall of Famers!

Five members of the NFF College Football Hall of Fame are set to be honored once again in their home state of California!

The Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation, on behalf of the California Interscholastic Federation and the National Football Foundation, have announced the second-ever class of the California High School Football Hall of Fame, which includes Edwin “Babe” Horrell (1969 inductee from Cal), Donn Moomaw (1973, UCLA), Craig Morton (1992, Cal), Ron Pritchard (2003, Arizona State) and Ed White (1999, Cal).

There’s a new No. 1 in this week’s FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll!

Team LeGrand just wrapped up the 14th annual “A Walk to Believe” at The Rutgers Boardwalk, with over 1,000 participants raising more than $120k!

Benavides (Texas) High School has faced a dwindling enrollment in recent years and as such, has made the switch to six-man football. In the midst of their second year in the new style of play, there’s growing hope within the program and the community.

Growing up in Paris, Effrem Gnepo had always just played soccer.

Seeing an Odell Beckham Jr. highlight during the pandemic changed everything, though. The next logical step for Gnepo? Move to the United States to live with relatives, learn English, and learn the intricacies of offensive line play!

John Markas, an All-American guard for Duke in the early 1960s under head coach Bill Murray, has passed away. He was 84.

Rex Adams, a Rhodes Scholar and letterman at Duke in the early 1960s, has passed away. He was 84.

Charles Wesley Moore, a Hall of Fame coach at Bethune-Cookman where he compiled a 27-6-1 record in three seasons, has passed away. He was 84.

Joe Schmidt, an All-American linebacker at Pitt in the early 1950s and member of the NFF College Football Hall of Fame Class of 2000, has passed away. He was 92.

Kevin Long, a running back for the South Carolina Gamecocks in the 1970s and member of the South Carolina Athletics Hall of Fame, has passed away. He was 69.

Greg Harden, a long-time University of Michigan administrator best known as the mental coach for thousands of student-athletes, has passed away. He was 75.

“I read the first line where it said, ‘Congratulations, you’ve been selected to the 2024 College Football Hall of Fame class,’ and I couldn’t get through the rest of it, I was so excited.”
